Hello,

My name is Shiloh DeBauch. I’m a photographer and occasional videographer based in Madison, Wisconsin. I moved down here with my wife and our 2 cats after graduating from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

While trying to find where I fit into the professional photography world, I wound up shooting for a local dance company. This grew into an ongoing partnership and has allowed me to shoot some truly spectacular events. It really opened my eyes to just how much talent is out there. Dancing provides a unique opportunity to capture precision control of the human body. Catching the dancer at the peak of their jump, or in the middle of a move that contorts their body, can illustrate the amazing things humans are capable of.

In that same vein, concert photography appeals to me because of the sense of community, exploration, and improvisation it entails. Concerts are eclectic and generate strong emotions. These emotions play out on stage, and I find I can bottle a piece of that emotion with a well-timed photo.

Portraits and headshots allow us to put our best selves forward. In contrast to dancing and concerts, headshots and portraits can be planned, manipulated, and meticulously molded. Altering light, or color, or pose can have dramatic effects on the mood given off by a particular photo. Therefore, I feel at my most creative when shooting these sessions. I can slow down and get exactly what I want and what my subject wants, and maybe find some happy accidents along the way.

Weddings are among the happiest days in people’s lives. And it’s my job to help them remember that feeling whenever they look at their photos. I take that responsibility very seriously, and strive to match the mood, personality, and tastes of the bride and groom.

While I do specialize, I enjoy new challenges and experimenting with my camera. I love learning a new style and using skills from one practice in another, making me a more well-rounded photographer.
